Why dive here

BAITED. Moorea has one of the longest-running shark-feeding tourism operations anywhere, at sites including Tiki Point and the area known as Lemon Shark Valley, and it has been studied as such: peer-reviewed work exists on its effect on surrounding fish…

SNORKEL ONLY in practice. Aug-Oct, occasionally into early November. In-water whale interaction across French Polynesia is regulated and conducted from the surface with a licensed guide; scuba is not how this happens. Divers book Moorea in September expecting…
Seasonality — absentabsentabsentabsentabsentabsentshoulderpeakpeakpeakshoulderabsent

Opunohu Canyons, The Rose Garden, The Aquarium. Easy, warm, shallow, and genuinely beginner-friendly, which is under-stated because Moorea gets sold on sharks. This is one of the more relaxed destinations in the dataset.
Marine life
Resident and reliable year-round, with the reliability coming from feeding. Sicklefin lemon shark, the Indo-Pacific species, not the Atlantic N. brevirostris seen at Tiger Beach.
Ubiquitous in the lagoon; the concentrated encounters are at feeding sites.
Aug-Oct with the season sometimes running to 1 November. Mothers and calves in the sheltered water off the island. Surface interaction only, licensed operators, regulated approach distances.
On the outer reef, away from the feeding sites.
Schooling on the Rays Corridor drift.
